This piece was selected as a winning submission and commission for the City of Thornton, Colorado’s new 88th Street Station on the new RTD N Line light rail line. Each station in the City of Thornton feature art wraps on mechanical housing boxes to tell the story of Thornton from its founding through the decades. This pieces depicts Thornton’s beginnings in the 1950’s as a largely agricultural area. With a motif inspired by chinoiserie wall paper patterns, the art imagines scenes of daily life in the fifties and uses the visual vocabulary of the era to create a unique visual direction that is eye-catching from far away and tells a story upon closer inspection.
